Beth is currently a volunteer with Lake County Animal Center in Crown Point. She shared what she has learned about animal shelters and shelter pets in the past 3 years.

In early March Beth went down with a group of other volunteers to Henryville Indiana to help search, rescue and reunite animals who were displaced by the tornado with their owners.

The four-hour, 250-mile trip was organized on Saturday, March 3rd by shelter community liaison Victoria Beasley, of Crown Point.  They set out to reach the J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter in Jeffersonville, Ind.

A bridge that was out prevented the volunteers from reaching that destination, but they did drop off their supplies at the fire department in Henryville, she said. Beasley said she heard the shelter in Jeffersonville was doing well in the wake of the tornadoes that devastated the area that Friday.
